This 2001 Mercedes-Benz SL500 was purchased in May 2001 and registered in Florida with subsequent registrations noted in Texas through 2023. The car now resides in Colorado and has just under 29k miles from new. Finished in Black (040) over Black Nappa Leather (231), power is provided by a 5.0-liter V8 mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a power soft top with a removable panoramic hardtop, the AMG Sport Package, xenon headlights, power adjustable seats, Bose audio, ESP stability control, cruise control and a leather steering wheel. Maintenance within the last 24 months includes two rebuilt top hydraulics, a new fuel pump, a new mass airflow sensor, and new antenna. The current seller has added custom stepped 19" AMG Aero III wheels by OZ Racing along with new H&R springs. This SL500 Sport is now offered for sale with factory literature, clean Carfax report, and a clean Montana title.
The exterior is finished in Black (040) and features the AMG Sport Package which includes a sculpted front air dam, side skirts and rear apron. The black fabric soft top is power operated and the seller notes a small tear in one of the side windows of the soft top. A removable panoramic hardtop is included in the sale. Exterior equipment includes power adjustable side mirrors, integrated front fog lamps, chrome exhaust tip, xenon headlamps and a headlamp wiper/washer system. The seller notes no major blemishes on the vehicle and a paint correction was performed last year when the OEM front grille and emblem were paint-matched to the car.
Authentic AMG Aero III monoblock wheels by OZ Racing are fitted with custom stepped 19" lips. New Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires measure 245/35 front and 275/30 rear with 2025 date codes. The wheels show in excellent condition with a polished finish and AMG flat center caps. A factory spare tire can be found mounted in the trunk with the original tool kit. New H&R springs were fitted last year along with #1 pads all around.
The cabin is upholstered in Black Nappa Leather (231) with Burl Walnut wood trim which lines the center console and door panels. Both front seats feature power adjustability with three-position memory. Interior equipment includes Bose audio with a 6-disc CD changer, an original Becker head unit, ESP stability control, automatic climate control, cruise control, and a garage door opener.
The leather steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for fuel level, economy, coolant temperature and oil pressure. The digital odometer reads just under 29k original miles, approximately 3k of which have been added by the seller.
This R129 is powered by a 5.0-liter M113 V8 which is factory rated at 302 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. Maintenance within the last 24 months includes two rebuilt top hydraulics, a new fuel pump, a new mass airflow sensor, and a new antenna. Most recently, new Michelin tires were fitted along with an oil service, in addition to the H&R springs and #1 pads previously mentioned.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or damage reports from new along with linear mileage updates. This SL500 Sport is now offered for sale in Denver, Colorado with factory literature, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Montana title.

@Benzforthewin Hello … H&R springs were fitted with number 1 spring pads fitted both front and backWere the springs cut? If so what were they cut to? Thank you@993tats Hello … The car actually comes with two tops — the original top that came with the car and the panoramic roof. I purchased the panoramic roof after buying the car. When purchasing the panoramic top, the sunscreen/shade wasn’t working, but I managed to fix a few things and it’s working properly now.@seller in pic 182 Im seeing a headliner, not the panoramic glass roof. The panoramic roof would have a sunscreen, right? Does the sunscreen work? What am I seeing in pic 182?@Methanopyrus25 Hello …. Thanks for the question. I purchased the car in February 2025 with a little over 26,000 miles, so my knowledge of the earlier history is somewhat limited. Since owning it, I’ve put just under 3,000 miles on it over roughly 15 months. I own several older Mercedes and primarily used this one as a fair-weather/summer car rather than a daily driver. As an enthusiast, I enjoy tasteful modifications on older Mercedes models, which is why some street modifications were done during my ownership.@993tats Thank you — I appreciate the kind words about the car. Yes, the original wheels are included in the sale. To my knowledge, the car has not had any paint or body work. The only item I’ve ever had painted was the front grille, which I had painted black. I also had a professional paint correction done on the car (about $2,000) to keep it looking its best. As for blemishes, there is some very minor peppering on the front end consistent with normal driving, but nothing particularly noticeable unless closely inspected. There is no curb rash on the wheels at all, and the door sills have no scuffing.$20,250 bid placed by @sami786
If known, can you share a little on the history of the car and what it has been used for? The car averages approximately 1k miles per its 26 yr age, yet it has many street modifications. Are there any reasons it has not been driven?@seller Wow. Beautiful example! Are original wheels included in sale? Does the car have any paint/body work? Paint meter readings would be helpful if you can provide? Any blemishes in the paint to note (even if minor) such as road rash, peppering on front end, side skirts, curb rash on wheels, door sills that are scuffed, etc? Hopefully the original AMG Monoblocks are included in the sale. Much more appropriate for the car than the ‘90s tuner Street Boyz OZ wheels.$13,000 bid placed by @Blackbenzz
