This 1995 Mercedes-Benz S420 shows first sale and registration in New York in 1994. It remained in New York and under dealer service through 2004 when it moved to Florida through 2017 and finally to Virginia with the current owner and seller in early 2026. It shows 69k original miles and is finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199) over Black Leather (261). Power comes from a 4.2L M119 DOHC V8 paired to a 722.3 4-speed automatic. Additional equipment includes power mirrors, dual-zone climate control, and more. The included Carfax report shows 14 service history records and while not many records exist from prior to current ownership the car has received a thorough service in 2026. This service consisted of new shocks for the front and rear, new upper control arms, new spark plugs, a new fan clutch, a new amplifier for the stereo, a coolant flush, an oil service, a brake service with new pads and rotors, a new cabin filter, and four new tires with a fresh alignment. This S420 is offered for sale by the current owner in Virginia with original literature, two keys, recent records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Virginia title.
The car is finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199), a color rarely seen on the S-Class. Exterior features include a power-operated sunroof with tilt function, headlight wipers, a power antenna, and dual-pane insulated side windows. The included Carfax report shows a history free from accidents, damage, or paintwork. The seller notes the power antenna does not move and has included detailed photos of the exterior.
The cabin is upholstered in Black Leather (261) along with matching carpets and Zebrano veneer on the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Amenities include dual-zone automatic climate control, an AM/FM/cassette stereo w/CD changer, soft-close doors and trunk, power-adjustable front seats with memory, an electrically adjustable steering column, and carpet floor mats. The seller notes the lumbar to be inactive along with the interior trunk release button.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, an analog clock, fuel gauge, and a combination gauge indicating oil pressure, coolant temperature, and instant fuel economy. The digital odometer indicates 69k miles.
The 4.2-liter M119 V8 features dual overhead camshafts along with four valves per cylinder and produced 275 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque when new.
The Carfax report shows linear mileage updates since new. This S420 is offered for sale by the current owner in Virginia with original literature, two keys, recent records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Virginia title.

@Shawnireland I would do it in a heart beat!! 😁💯A cross country trip should be no issue with the care this has recently recevied by this seller. But this S420 is 30 or so years old! Drive or ship! Hum!@fschura this is just the vehicle for that road trip!@mikelaca just drive it back to LA!@Davema79 LOL, yes, sir!So I'm gonna have to just hope it's ok at 100+?? 😉An additional record has been added to the gallery.@Davema79 my pleasure, for clarity, I have gotten her up to 90MPH with no vibrations or shaking.Sounds good. Ty@Davema79 I am very OCD and I went through this thing more than once. I literally took it two days ago to have the wheels rotated and rebalanced just to make sure everything is perfect. I have an invoice to back it up! Super smooth, no vibrating.Im assuming you got the car up to speed? No shaking or vibrating over 75 mph? Didnt know you bought to fix up and sell. Not a big deal just wanna make sure i know what I'm getting into.@Adamaldb You're welcome.Ok thank you .@Adamaldb I’m not a dealership but rather a private owner therefore the sale is as is, but I can assure you that the car runs and drives as it should. So I meant warranty if I get the car after you guys ship it to me and I find something wrong with the engine or transmission or electrical do you offer warranty at least for 30 days ?$7,000 bid placed by @Davema79
@Adamaldb what type of warranty are you referring to? It’s a 31 year-old car and all of the work that was performed was performed by licensed and certified mechanics so at least their portion of repairs would fall under a one year 12,000 mile warranty, I will need to confirm that is the case with all three of them, but I’ve been working with them for over a decade so I have faith in their abilityThere is warranty?@Adamaldb my pleasure!Thank you for your answerQuite simply, I purchased the car to fix up and sell. I have done this for nearly 3 decades. 😃Reason for sale after 3 months only ?I wanted to take a moment to provide some context on the service documentation you’ll see uploaded to this listing. This car was gone through thoroughly before being offered for sale — not just a detail and flip. A combination of professional shop work and hands-on service I completed myself. I currently own more than a few Mercedes-Benz vehicles and have been buying and selling cars for the past 25 years, so I know what proper preparation looks like and what buyers expect to see. The professional work was performed by my regular independent Mercedes mechanic and the transmission shop I’ve worked with for years — both of whom I trust completely. Their invoices are attached and speak for themselves. I also performed several items myself, including cabin filter, spark plugs, MAF sensor cleaning, amplifier replacement, and rotors and pads. I know this car well and wanted every serious bidder to have full confidence in what they’re getting. Everything found was either addressed or disclosed. No deferred maintenance, no hidden surprises. Happy to answer any questions on the work.Photos of records have been added per request.$6,500 bid placed by @Stardriver
Last day on the 1995 Mercedes-Benz S420. I'm around all day — questions, photos, video, service documentation, whatever you need. The car was freshly serviced before listing: tires, brakes, rotors, shocks, upper control arms, fan clutch, fluids — receipts available. Everything known is disclosed upfront. Would love to aee this car to go to a good home!Yes, otherwise I'd be all over it. Seems like these auction sites are 75% cars east of the mississippi when that's not how the population is distributed. CA is the car capital, but never gets much representation on auction sites, this or others, proportional to its population.@mikelaca i’m sure for an enclosed trailer which this car deserves would be a pretty penny! How I wish this was a West Coast car. Ugh. Shipping is always a killer.$5,500 bid placed by @Davema79

@thembmarket thank you kindly.Underside photos have been added to the gallery.@ottobenz actually there are four keys, one remote control, infrared and three mechanical keys. Happy to send a picture, the infrared remote control key works great and I put a brand new battery in it.Beautiful car and great presentation. Listing says '2 keys'.. does this mean '2 sets of keys'? When new, 1995 W140s would've have 2 infrared keys and 2 mechanical keys. If the infrareds are present, do they work? Thanks, GLWTA$2,750 bid placed by @Adamaldb
Beautiful w140, it’s a shame they don’t make them like they used to.I've worked at Mercedes for 15 years and I've known the seller for over 30. I've seen this car firsthand. These W140s are bulletproof when they're maintained right and this one has been. I wouldn't say that about just anyone's car. Happy bidding guys!@thembmarket Thank you! The new photo is of the reverse antennas in their elevated position. An additional photo has been added to the gallery.**UPDATE** I wanted to share that there has been additional service completed on the car beyond what was listed in the original description. The transmission has been serviced for good measure and the shifter bushing has been replaced during the transmission service. Additionally the MAF sensor was thoroughly cleaned when the pictures of the intake and wiring harness were taken which will keep everything running smoothly through the air intake system. The vehicle is running top knotch!! Strong and smooth as it is intended to do. Just want to make sure whoever buys this car has the full picture. Happy to answer any additional questions. Thank you.$2,500 bid placed by @BD450SL
@thembmarket thank you! The new photos are of the intake, spark plug wires and wiring harness that is visible.8 Additional photos and an additional video of the engine bay and harness have been added to the auction.$2,250 bid placed by @omarshareef
Looks amazing (and local to me). GLWS.....I've always loved these$2,000 bid placed by @Bennett05
@Davema79 the reverse antennas worked perfectly! How about the reverse antennas? Looks like a real beauty!@Davema79 the lumbar seats, the trunk release on the center console inside the cabin and the power antenna doesn’t go up. I know that there is power running to the antenna because I looked into that myself, I was going to order one from eBay to replace it, about $150. I didn’t want to mess with the trunk release button because you never know if the wood trim pieces will crack or break considering the age.Is there currently anything not working on the vehicle? Soft close doors, locks, sunroof.. etc?Well taken care of....@Jasper_Stokes I'm happy to take the airbox off and inspect, I can take pictures too.@Jasper_Stokes has not been replaced to my knowledge but there are no issues with the vehicle.Wiring harness?$1,333 bid placed by @SellCLE
