This 1997 Mercedes-Benz SL600 was sold and registered to the first owner in New York in November of 1997. It remained in New York through 2011 until it appears the car was moved to Florida for winter use and ultimately re-registered in Florida. The current owner has had it registered in Tennessee since acquiring the car in 2021. It shows 41k original miles. Finished in Black (040) over Exclusive Black & Grey Leather (561), power is provided by a 6.0-liter V12 mated to a five-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Factory equipment includes a removable hardtop in Black (040), a black power soft top, Xenon headlamps, remote central locking, heated seats, automatic climate control and a Bose stereo. The included Carfax report shows 23 service history entries, the majority of which were performed by Mercedes-benz dealers. Recent services include a new valve block for the top, a brake service and flush, a new alternator, a new lower oil pan gasket, and an oil service. This SL600 is now offered by the selling dealer with two remote keys, the original manufacturer’s literature, a clean Carfax report, a hardtop stand, and a clean Tennessee title.
The exterior is finished in Black (040) with matching lower body cladding and a paint-matched removable hardtop. Exterior features include a power folding Black soft top, Xenon HID headlamps, front and rear fog lamps, heated and power-adjustable door mirrors and remote central locking. The included Carfax report shows a clean history free from accidents or damage and the nose of the car shows light rock chips. Detailed photos of the exterior can be found in the gallery along with a thorough video.
The 16” OEM alloy wheels have been fitted with a set of Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 tires measuring 225/55 with 2019 date codes. The standard Adaptive Damping System provides driver-selectable ride height and stiffness. Additional standard equipment includes ASR slip control and ESP stability control.
The cabin is upholstered in Exclusive Black & Grey Leather (561) with a contrasting upper dashboard and Burl Walnut wood trim which lines the center console, gear selector, steering wheel and door panels. Both seats are heated with 10-way power adjustability and three-position memory. Additional interior amenities include a power tilt/telescope steering column, automatic climate control, cruise control, a pop-up roll bar, a 6-speaker Bose audio system, a trunk-mounted 6-disc CD changer, and a rebuilt Becker head unit with bluetooth. A new rear view mirror was installed under the current owner’s care due to a faulty original.
A wood/leather steering wheel fronts analog instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, fuel economy, coolant temperature and oil pressure. The digital odometer currently shows 41k miles from new.
This R129 roadster is powered by a 6.0-liter M120 V12 engine which is rated for 389 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. The included Carfax report shows 23 service history entries, the majority of which were performed by Mercedes-benz dealers. Recent services include a new valve block for the top, a brake service and flush, a new alternator, a new lower oil pan gasket, and an oil service.
The Carfax report shows three owners from new along with linear mileage updates, dealer service visits, and a clean history. This SL600 is now offered by the selling dealer with two remote keys, the original manufacturer’s literature, a clean Carfax report, a hardtop stand, and a clean Tennessee title.
The seller has included the following videos:
The R129 is quickly growing in popularity in the classic car market as the next SL to own. As the focus has now turned to some of the 90's Sacco-era designs, enthusiasts and collectors are on the hunt for clean R129s. Specifically, those with the M120 V12 under the hood are leading the way from a value standpoint. This SL600 comes well equipped with the options package that we say is nearly a must-have via heated seats and xenon headlamps. In combination with a clean history and low mileage, this R129 is sure to provide great value and fun to a collector looking for a taste of the 90s.

@300GWRO Morning. This is actually something we talk about somewhat regularly. The old cell networks that carried these signals (2G, etc) were decommissioned to make room for the more modern digital networks we use today. There are a few groups retro-fitting new innards to the phones but I haven't had the chance to play with any of them yet.@Seller:....when these cars come to market and have the "in-period" mobile phone system (handset, dash cubby etc)....what does it take to actually use these phones? Carriers still support.?....or is it "looks cool only item"? I've never heard/seen a seller discuss this topic in detail...and how to indeed use it. Many thanks, JackThose watching, we are online today. Let us know if there are lingering questions with just over 1 day remaining until the end of this auction. Short recap: -41k miles -Exceptionally Maintained -SL2 (Xenon & Heated Seats) -Original Window Sticker *PLEASE watch our 23-minute video if you're. interested. It's very thorough. Good luck to all!@rkilmon Take a look at photos 249 through 270- you''ll see it's a standard hardtop. ThanksI think the photos show that it’s a panoramic hardtop but can you please confirm ?$29,500 bid placed by @gasdourian

Two copies of 2022 service receipts have been added to the gallery showing a major service in 2022 under our client's care. Blue Ridge MB performed the services at nearly $20k spent. Stay tuned as we get a VMI as well. Also for those looking, when this car was sold by Exclusive Impex in 2021 they did state the hydraulics were rebuilt in preparation for their sale which lines up with our opinion that they appear fresh. Hopefully this helps!Additional service records have been added to the gallery.$13,750 bid placed by @gasdourian

@tcorona269 No worries. The head unit (stereo control unit in the dash) was originally manufactured by Becker. They're still in business and offer refurbishment services along with the option to integrate bluetooth tech. This specific SL has the original Becker head unit with bluetooth installed. Keep it looking original with modern functionality. As for the top hydraulics, we inspected them along with @stuttgart_steel. They appear newer but we're unclear around timing. Hopefully the VMI will tell! Can you comment on "Bluetooth Becker"? Is that an after market stereo system? And apologies if I missed it, but have the hydraulic seals for the Hardtop/Convertible been ALL replaced?@Slb0151 because we checked the wrong box ;) request made to adjust and appears it has been. Let us know if you'd like to know more about the SL.Why does it indicate a private seller when a dealer has it listed?$5,250 bid placed by @Samuelpc
@Boatymcboatface We'll have a VMI on Thursday for you. Many thanks$5,000 bid placed by @Dmargil
@Boatymcboatface A VMI you say?? Let's see what we can accomplish.Very nice example. I've owned a 1997 SL600 for 15years/60,000 miles and they are great touring convertibles. This is very nice, well-loved and not modified or messed with in any way. A VMI would be nice. Good luck!I had fun shooting this one for the GAS Motorcars crew. It's a really dialed in example and the M120 in this car feels EXTREMLEY healthy.$4,000 bid placed by @BD450SL
Thanks for taking a look at our SL600 auction, if you're in the market for a V12, a roadster, a modern classic MB, or just another fun toy please reach out and talk about the car. It's in fantastic condition and might have one of the cleaner cabins we've seen in a while. It comes from a long-time MB enthusiast who keeps a venerable stable of Mercedes from the 80's and 90's and truly appreciates the art of preserving these cars. 300+ photos are in the gallery showing everything from general condition to paint meter readings and our 23-minute video should fill in any blanks. Thanks to @stuttgart_steel for the auction prep and photos. We're located just on the outskirts of Atlanta and are happy to show the car by appointment. We have indoor storage and work with shipping (domestic and international) regularly. Beyond that we've been in business here in Atlanta for more than 25 years and are proud of our reputation. Good luck to those bidding and congrats to one lucky winner.
