Sweet Swede: 19k-Mile 1977 230E AMG

Rare color, manual transmission, low miles, original AMG goodies: this factory fresh W123 has it all!

Offered for sale at Häggenäs Automobile AB in Sweden, this 1977 230E manual is finished in the rare Cayenne Orange (406); a rare 70'a era color offered only from 1975-79. With a four speed transmission mounted to the 2.3L 4cyl engine from the factory, these two rare specs would be enough to gain our interest in this W123, but the super swede machine has much more to offer.

This example appears to be finished in original AMG bits all around; giving it a road rally appearance suitable for any vintage AMG or W123 fanatic. Appearance mods include AMG penta style wheels, ducktail spoiler, AMG front valence, and fog & driving lights. The Penta wheels appear to potentially be replicas as no stamps around the lug holes can be seen. Regardless, they look on point and are wrapped in Continental tires measuring 225/50/16. Naturally, as this is a European car, the euro bumpers are fitted and do a great deal to enhance the look of this stout saloon. Note there is a tow hook peaking out from behind the rear bumper.

Additional touches like the fixed antenna and the Mercedes branded mud-flaps really complete the look on this example. Notably, the grill slats on the W123 grill appear to have been painted in Cayenne Orange as well; another notable AMG styling cue from the era. While there's no paperwork or word of authenticity from the selling dealer, we're inclined to believe this to be original AMG kit from the era based on its provenance and, of course, the low mileage. Did we mention the mileage?

This car is advertised as having only 3,217 Swedish mils (roughly 19k miles) on the clock - an astonishingly low number for a car of this vintage.

The basketweave interior looks virtually new as does the rest of this car from the nose to the trunk (which includes the original tool roll). We think this is one worth taking a closer look at, especially with an asking price of only 170,500 SEK (or about $20k USD).

BRB, hopping a flight to Sweden...
