Survivor Listing: 1985 300TD

This is a listing that’s been on the market for longer than we like but we can’t help but think it needs a spotlight before it sells. This 1985 300TD is currently listed with MBP Motorcars out of Ohio and can be found here for $28,900. This example is a true one-owner wagon showing only 64k miles on the clock and comes with factory books, manuals, and window sticker.

Finished in Pastel Beige over Creme Beige this may be one of the more iconic color combinations on the W123’s. As you’d expect the interior shows like a typical W123 that’s been driven but loved for several generations. The wood is cracking on the center console and the rear seat nets are drooping in their typical fashion. Otherwise the rest of the cabin immaculate down the carpet and mats. Not much appears to have been altered as this W123 retains the factory options and accessories including the original Becker head unit.

The body displays equally as nicely as we can’t find any evidence of paintwork or body repair in the photos. Moreover, the glass appears to be original or at least if any lites were replaced it wasn’t in the last decade. The chrome bumpers, trim, and roof rails all follow suit and appear in excellent shape as well. Under the car a little surface corrosion is present on the exhaust and a few hangers but is nothing to worry about in its current state other than a potentially tired SLS system for the rear.

Given recent W123 wagon auctions and sales through Bring a Trailer, RM Sothebys, and eBay the asking price seems inline with what we’d expect and frankly, given provenance of this 1 owner wagon, we’re surprised asking in the 30’s. Although a steep number for a relatively slow, mass produced Mercedes, this wagon is sure to keep appreciating as cars in this shape are becoming harder to find as they’re being bought up to be driven by the next generation.
