Close to New: 2001 CLK55 AMG w/ 29k Miles

This must be the year for W208 CLK buyers. The W208 CLK, especially the AMG variants, often generate good discussion on the MB Market for a number of compelling reasons. From value proposition to rarity, and performance, the first generation of CLK had a lot to offer. This specific 2001 CLK55 AMG can be found listed here on Craigslist for 17,500 and it could be the lowest mileage we’ve seen this year at 29k on the odometer. Thanks to @e55_everyday on instagram for sharing this.

Finished in Brilliant Silver (744) over Anthracite Leather, this CLK55 presents itself as a timeless option for collectors or weekend drivers. As with most Brilliant Silver cars, blemishes are easy to pick out and we’re having a hard time finding any in the listing photos. The paint still shines nicely and doesn't seem to be suffering from any fading or clear coat issues. In addition, the body appears to be factory-true and even the headlights (which commonly cloud over), seem to be original and crystal clear. The only change we’d make to the exterior would be to have the AMG Monoblock wheels refinished to factory spec.

The interior shows just as nicely as the exterior and appears to be as original as a W208 CLK55 can be. The Anthracite leather still shows well and maintains a healthy finish without looking over conditioned or too dry. All the switchgear reportedly works and the original CLK55 AMG floor mats are included. Aside from light loss of pixelation on the cluster, this car continues to look the part. Eagle-eyed viewers will notice the wood trimmed steering wheel in this example. The data card doesn’t seem to specify the option so it’s possible the original perforated wheel was replaced by this one but there’s no telling whether it was done with the dealer at delivery or more recently. Either way, we think the wood wheel brings a nice touch to these cars.

In short, this may be one of the more perfect/ideal examples to hit the market this year and there certainly aren’t many more in this shape. At the $17,500 asking price we’re able to identify solid value and high growth potential for this AMG coupe. Even if the front tag breaks the deal for you, someone had enough foresight to mount it to the impact strip for easy deletion.
